Why Choosing the Right PowerLung Model Matters

1. Optimal Training Effectiveness:

  • Using a PowerLung model that matches your current fitness level ensures you get the most out of your training. If the resistance is too high, you might struggle and become discouraged. Conversely, if it's too low, you won't challenge yourself enough to see improvements.
  • Properly aligned resistance helps strengthen your respiratory muscles effectively, leading to better endurance, breath control, and overall respiratory health.

2. Personalized Training:

  • Each PowerLung model is designed for specific needs and goals. Whether you're focusing on general fitness, athletic performance, or rehabilitation, choosing the right model ensures you're targeting the correct aspects of your respiratory health.
  • By aligning your training with your goals, you can optimize your results and see improvements in areas that matter most to you.

3. Progression and Motivation:

  • Starting with a model that aligns with your current abilities allows for gradual progression. As you improve, you can increase the resistance within your current model or upgrade using a Resistance Cells Set (RCS), which is more cost-effective and convenient than purchasing a new device.
  • Seeing consistent progress and achieving small victories is crucial for maintaining motivation and commitment to your training.

4. Safety and Comfort:

  • Using a model that's too challenging can lead to discomfort or even injury if you strain yourself trying to keep up. Starting with a suitable model ensures a safe and comfortable training experience.
  • Proper breathing techniques and resistance levels help prevent overexertion and ensure that you're working within your limits.

What Things About You Help You Choose the Right PowerLung

1. Assess Your Activity Level:

  • Determine if you are sedentary, moderately active, or highly active. This will help guide your choice based on the intensity of your lifestyle.
  • Consider if you engage in sports, music, or other activities that require breath control.

2. Identify Your Goals:

  • Are you looking to improve overall health, enhance athletic performance, or support rehabilitation? Do you need better breath control for music or public speaking?
  • Understanding your goals will help you select a model that aligns with what you want to achieve.

3. Consider Your Current Breathing Ability:

  • If you're new to respiratory training, start with a lower resistance model.
  • If you're already active or have experience with breathing exercises, you might start with a higher resistance model.

4. Check with a expert:

  • If you have specific health concerns or questions, consult with a healthcare provider or fitness expert.
  • They can provide personalized advice based on your health status and goals.

Which Users Typically Use Each Model of PowerLung

PowerLung BreatheAir®, Medium Resistance — For Fitness, Active Lifestyles & Breath Control

The BreatheAir is the most popular wellness starting point for people who are moderately active and want to breathe better every day. Choose the BreatheAir® if:

  • You work out regularly 2–3 days a week — walking, swimming, yoga, Pilates, or martial arts
  • You want to shift from shallow breathing to deep, controlled breathing
  • You want better breath management for daily energy, stress relief, or sleep
  • You are a performing artist training for open breath, vocal resonance, and projection

The low setting of the BreatheAir® overlaps slightly with the high setting of the AireStream®.

PowerLung AireStream®, Light Resistance — For Wellness, Recovery & Breathing Technique

The AireStream is the gentlest model and the ideal entry point for wellness, rehabilitation, and breathing retraining. Choose the AireStream® if:

  • You want to reduce or eliminate shallow breathing to improve your health or daily energy
  • You are in a wellness, rehabilitation, or recovery program
  • You want to improve your breathing technique for singing or playing a musical instrument
  • You are new to breathing training and want to start at a comfortable resistance level

The AireStream® offers the lowest resistance range available. Its highest setting overlaps slightly with the low setting of the BreatheAir®.

PowerLung Trainer, High Resistance — For Advanced Training & Performing Artists

The Trainer is for people in good aerobic condition who want to push their performance further. Choose the Trainer if:

  • You exercise or train at high intensity almost daily
  • You want to train in your Target Heart Rate Zone for longer
  • You are a professional or advanced musician who wants to perform more relaxed for longer periods
  • You play a high-pressure instrument but don't always have time to warm up

The low setting of the Trainer overlaps slightly with the high setting of the BreatheAir®.

PowerLung Sport, Maximum Resistance — For Elite Athletes & Peak Performance

The Sport model offers the highest resistance available in a PowerLung. Choose the Sport if:

  • You are in excellent physical and aerobic condition
  • You would consider yourself an elite athlete on the level of Navy SEALs, Special Ops, or SOCOM
  • You want every breath to give you the maximum your body can deliver
  • You want to perfect breath management for racing or high-demand job performance

NOTE: The Sport model is not for casual users or those with moderate to high activity levels. It is not recommended if you are currently unable to breathe deeply at high resistance due to illness or injury. Most music teachers do not recommend the Sport model due to its high resistance range.
